Azienda Agricola Cagliero - Barolo

The Cagliero estate was founded on south-easterly slopes a few hundred metres from the town of Barolo by the great-grandmother of current proprietor Stefano Cagliero. His grandmother and mother managed the vineyards and cellar before he took over, and his daughter is waiting in the wings, so in this case we were happy to make an exception to our focus on female winemakers. While the barolos are excellent and need no introduction, we think the other reds in the Cagliero range are worth your attention too. In honour of his great-grandmother, Nonna Marcellina, the family have kept a plot of dolcetto in a prime barolo cru which brings unusual complexity to the 2 wines in our range which it contributes to.
