Il Colle di Carli - Montalcino

The vines surrounding the winery of Il Colle di Carli were planted in 1972, the same year as owner and winemaker Caterina Carli was born. She has spent her life among the vines on a hilltop adjacent the town of Montalcino. She aims for as little interference with the wine as possible, to let the terroir and effects of vintage shine through. Her main inputs? “It takes absolute cleanliness, time (at last… everything goes so fast these days!), patience (quite a lot of it) and curiosity to watch something grow up, simply standing next to it with great care, without ever wanting it different from what it is.” These wines are extraordinary.
