Azienda Agricola Cagliero Barolo DOCG "Ravera" 2014 750mL

Barolo from the Ravera cru, due south of the Barolo township. A wet and cold year forged a wine that will need a few decades to fully emerge. 

Truffles, cloves, bay leaf & tobacco mix with still vibrant plums & black cherries. It’s a great preview of the expected trajectory of the younger Barolos. The impact of the 2014 vintage is obvious in this wine. A long ripening period and monster tannins on bottling. Stefano delayed the release for several years, but even with 10 years of age, it’s still the highest tannin wine in our range.

You can open it with confidence now (written in 2024), but we expect it to continue to improve as those tannins integrate for another decade at least. The power of this wine pairs well with slow cooked beef cheeks and Paris mash.
