Monteleone 2023 Etna Rosso 750mL

If you're wondering what all the fuss is about when it comes to Etna wines this Rosso is the perfect place to start. 

This is a bright and complex entry level Etna Rosso that is so versatile with food. Unlike the 2022, this is less a sour cherry bomb and more raspberry, red cherries, and red plums, bolstered by cedar and baking spice. Lovely acidity and drying tannins make this a perfect pairing for a charcuterie board.

A field blend of 90% Nerello Mascalese and 10% Nerello Cappuccio from a vineyard with more than 50 years of age.

From the northern slopes of Etna, within the Castiglione di Sicilia town-limits, 500m above sea level. Classic Etna volcanic soil, with 10% clay from the nearby Alcantara river which smooths the tannins.  

Harvested by hand in the early morning to maximise freshness of the fruit. Ageing is in French oak tonneaux and larger vat for 12 months, followed by 6 months in concrete, and a final 6 months in bottle before release.
