Domaine de la Fontainerie Demi-Sec 2016 AOC Vouvray 750mL

For those uninitiated in the ways of Vouvray, this wine has surprises at every turn. It's Demi-sec, but with acid even higher than the sec (dry) bottles in our range, it leaves a wonderful and literally mouth watering freshness on the palate.

Catherine saw the fermentation run a little further for this bottle than the other Demi-secs in our range (2022 and 2016 "Le C") so it has a touch less residual sugar and a big full bodied feel with 14% alcohol. 

The wine is aged on fine lees for 8 months before bottling and then aged in the Domaine's troglodytic cellar until it is shipped to Australia. This sees a silky hazelnut character joining ripe golden kiwi fruit flavours along with lanolin and honey. The fruit is more on the palate than the nose - which actually reminds me of the nose on the Godin et Filles vintage champagne. It's a delight. Pair with spice or grilled grapes and burrata.
