BYO Restaurants (Brisbane Edition)

BYO Restaurants (Brisbane Edition)

Details last updated December 2025

Your Brisbane BYO tour is all sorted here with Vino Cammino's collection of Brisbane's best BYO restaurants. With each restaurant we've suggested a wine that would be perfect to take along, and we've even pulled together some curated packs to suit the most popular BYO cuisines. Read on!

Northside:

1. Deer Duck Bistro (Auchenflower) - $20 corkage per person (max 1 bottle per 2 people). Tuesday to Thursday. Book online. We love a good degustation meal. Settle in and bring along a Grand Cru Riesling from Kuentz-Bas to wedge between some bubbles and a red from their excellent wine list.

2. Giardinetto (Fortitude Valley)- $3 per person corkage. All seatings. Call (07) 3252 4750 to book. For no frills, traditional Italian fare, look no further. Their early 2000s website gives a good sense of the vibe to expect. Take something classic - Chianti Classico from Tregole?

Heading to Giardinetto, or other Italian BYO spots on our list? You're going to want a few classic Italian reds to take along and we've pulled together a pack with perfect BYO wines that your friends are unlikely to have tried before and are sure to impress.

3. Golden Pig Restaurant (and cooking school) (Newstead) - $20 corkage per bottle. Thursdays only. Book online. Modern Asian; if you love the food, you can also take a class to learn to cook it! An off-dry Vouvray from Domaine de La Fontainerie would be perfect to pair with any of the spicier offerings.

4. Kent Road Bistro (Wooloowin) - $9 per person. Book online. An ever changing menu; French and Italian inspired. That heritage makes it easy to pair with our selection - but perhaps try a white - Viognier or Timorasso by Cecilia Monte would both be excellent.

5. Pochana (CBD) - $4 per person. Book online. Thai + BYO is a time honoured tradition in Australia. They have a small wine list centred on Aus and NZ offerings, so we think a European wine with a little sugar to balance the spice would be in order. A Gewurztraminer from Kuentz-Bas or even a low alcohol, slightly sparkling Moscato d'Asti from  Azienda Agricola Cagliero would be perfect.

Heading to Pochana, or other Asian BYO spots on our list? We've pulled together a pack with some of our most popular wines that are perfect for Asian or any other cuisine that leans toward the spicier side. Those foods can be tricky to pair, but you're in safe hands with these perfect BYO wines.

6. Twins on the Village (St Lucia) - $3.50 per person. Book online or call (07) 3162 4733. No website, because you don't need a website to make great pizza and pasta! Anything from our Pizza Pack will work a treat here. Twins on the Village is so far south of the CBD it seems strange to include it in the Northside section, but we don't make the Brisbane River rules...

Southside:

7. August (West End)- $25 per person. Sunday lunch only. Book online. Yum, yum, yum Euro inspired, modern Australian. With dishes as beautiful as the setting in a restored church, you'll want to take something special to August. We think vintage Champagne from Godin et Filles is required. A Premier Cru Chablis from Domaine des Trois V would fit nicely too.

For a modern European/Australian menu like August, our French BYO 6 pack is full of our favourite fine wines that sing alongside delicate entrées, hearty Gallic mains and classic desserts. These wines are made by tiny artisan producers, exclusively imported by Vino Cammino.

8. Cinco Bistro (Camp Hill) - $10 per person. Tuesday to Thursday evenings and Thursday and Friday lunch. Book online. With local ingredients taking pride of place at this long-time Camp Hill favourite, it's worth a reminder that we aim to offset the carbon footprint of all of our wines (from both their creation and their transportation from producer to your door). Take along an organic and biodynamic Pinot Noir from Domaine Sohler in Alsace.

9. Lefkas Taverna (West End) - $8 per bottle, 4 bottle limit. Wednesdays and Thursdays only. Book online. The Greek inspired menu will have you feeling like you're on a Mediterranean island. Seafood and lamb are the heroes here, so an Etna Bianco or Etna Rosso from Monteleone will be right at home.

10. Not Just Thai (West End) - $3 per person. All seatings. Call (07) 3846 4830 to book. We think their own description says it best: "Our menu reflects true Thai food, rather than "farang" or a western interpretation of a diverse and beautiful cuisine, and we look forward to giving you an authentic experience." We'd take the 4ème Tour Riesling from Kuentz-Bas or a Chenin Blanc from Domaine de La Fontainerie.

11. OTTO (South Bank) - $40 corkage. All seatings except Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunch. Book here. Seasonal menus with the river as your view. Godin et Filles Champagne or a Chablis from Domaine des Trois V are a must to kick off your meal with oysters.

12. Sugo IT (Bulimba) - $8 per bottle. Tuesday nights only - corkage goes to charity. No bookings, just head on in! How can you say no to a place that has three hand-made Gnocchi dishes on its secondi menu? Take a Rosso di Montalcino or Brunello from Il Colle di Carli. You won't regret it.
